British Gas's complaints department say this is the number of their Smart Meter Installation team. I had phoned up to check this number with BG after I kept on getting unsolicited calls to my mobile number from 03332004455 saying they were from BG and talking about changing my old meter. I thought it was a scam, it seems not; however with cold calling companies being able to clone numbers nowadays..... if you choose to listen to them because you want a smart.meter anyway, but they say they will charge you for it/installation... then hang up! It's a free service you can arrange direct with BG yourself. I still complained to BG anyway as I should not have been constantly called by this number. If BG want to keep their customers they should stop harassing them!

Along with many others - judging by existing comments - calls from this 03332004455 number have significantly increased in number during the past few weeks. We have decided not to respond to any number we do not recognise, believing that if it is an important call, the caller will leave a message. With this number, no message is ever left ! Now that it appears that the number is linked to British Gas, we wonder if we have inadvertently given them the right to contact us since we are Brtiish Gas customers !! - as when one clicks " yes " to a question about understanding all rules and regulations etc, in order to move on to the next stage of a process. Certainly now becoming more than just annoying !

In what dimension could that dog poo performance be considered adequate? He should consider suicide, but generally only sensitive, caring people take that route. This may or may not be a genuine British Gas number BUT thanks to warning web sites such as this, we now know that foreign scammers can spoof real business and government official landline numbers to route untraceable scam calls from anywhere. The rule is: NEVER give away any information or sign up to anything from a cold caller. If you are interested in what they say, call them back on the number on your paper work after ensuring your phone line has cleared. Stay safe.

Are British Gas exempt from OFCOM cold calling regulations - would love to see their top man get hit with a £500,000.00 fine perhaps then they would desist in harassing people.

From british gas asking about smart meter upgrade which i am not interested in. If they ring again i will be answering the phone in another language as i am studying how to speak Ukrainian. A good way to practice my studies. Just start talking in my second language and they will soon give up as they will not be able to understand anything. Another tactic is to preach about the Bible as no one wants to listen to someone preach about the Bible. You can catch 2 fish on one pole. You can teach the Bible to someone and at the same time get rid of nuisance callers.

Others have complained about constantly getting calls from this number and being pestered into changing to a smart meter which isn't compulsory, they tell you all homes must be fitted with one by 2020 and it doesn't. These guys say they are from British Gas, the male who rang said he was looking to arrange to install smart meters at my address, asked to speak to the home owner, had the correct name. The guys tone was sarcastic and patronising, i never asked them to call me , i never gave permission for them to call me. I ended the call when the guy got sarcastic when i refused the offered smart meters.

I just found 5 messages on my answer machine in the last week. I am registered with the TPS and always have been. I have not been a British Gas customer for over 10 years because they are absolutely dreadful. They have no valid reason to contact me. I have reported to TPS. A courtesy call after having both electric and gas Smart Meters fitted yesterday by British Gas. I can understand the skepticism and the fear of new technology. Smart Meters are to be fitted to every home in the UK by the year 2020. It is an excellent way of keeping any eye on your fuel costs. This is British Gas. They've been ringing me 3/4 times each day. I've blocked their number but can still see how many times they call me. I've told them I don't want a smart meter installing and it's not been made compulsory yet. Have asked them to remove my details from their database, they said they can't because I am a British Gas customer. If they continue to harass me, I'll be registering a complaint. Hi all, yes this number can be an nuisance if you don't answer!!! I called the number back as I was getting at least two calls a day since last week, and like others I don't answer if I don't know the number. However, the lad I spoke with was very helpful when I explained I felt harassed by the calls with no one leaving message on answering machine. It is from British Gas, so I told him I didn't want a smart meter and to take my number off their list, and he was very apologetic, I gave my details so I could be taken off the list. My advice is answer the call and tell them you don't want to be harassed, and to take your number from their list. Simple!!!

I will be invoicing this company (they are calling on behalf of) starting at £25 and increasing in increments of £50 each new call. Presuming it is British Gas based on the other comments and the fact I am supplied by British Gas. If they want me they can call me at a normal time; for example, not during my working hours or 10pm at night. Wish people would communicate information with good old letters or at the very least email when they cannot get in touch to explain what they want rather than harassing people.

It's called me several times over last week or so despite being on TPS and asking them to stop calling, I have blocked the number but still comes up. They are supposedly British Gas re Smart meters I have declined this service on more than one occasion, yet every 3-6 months I am bombarded with calls from them. I have asked to be removed from the list, I have asked not to be called again. It's more than harassment and ofcom can't be arsed to do anything as I do business with BG. The calls are coming from a 3rd party, could even be so called low security prisoners???

Claiming to be Wayne from British Gas wished me to confirm my named before he told me why he was calling. I asked him to clearly supply me with who he was but not just repeat that he was Wayne from British Gas. He claimed it was about smart meters. I said you are trying to sell me sometime he said no we are offering them free of charge. This person is trying to get information from you and get business that I do not wish to give over the phone. If this is British gas they should have a better system to contact there customers. Selling products without a fee (free of charge) is still selling over the phone. He was polite and only doing his job, but this is an out dated method of contacting customers and people are very wary of scams over the phone. Companys will loss business this way.

You do NOT have to have smart meters installed. These companies are trying to bully people. Whilst there is a rollout of them it is not compulsory. I switched energy supplies recently due to this and explained to new company that I do not want a smart meter and in any case they can't get to my gas meter as you would have to stick your head into cupboard and be like a giraffe so they wouldn't be able to change it anyway... Soon stopped the stupid calls and letters.

344 missed calls from these on my dead mothers phone ever aicne I told them she passed away. I don't Need this right Now They know she's passed on and now Getting spam Calls. Luckily Truecaller is installed and auto blocks them anyway due to high amount of spam Reports.. It's illegal harassment calling every 30 minutes all day long.

It is British Gas. Calling about installing a smart meter. The salesperson was very pushy and insisted that I get one, despite the fact that it is not yet mandatory. Smart meters are currently a complete con as they mean you then can't switch provider as they all use different units. Until they're either mandatory, or until they have a universal one I refuse to get it. I expect to be called daily until I give into their demands...

The cost of this debarcle of a smart meter rollout is costing the bill payer between 10 and 12 billion payed for by an extra charge on your bill. The joke is of course that at the moment they only work for the company that installs them .If you change companies they are no longer smart . There is a new version coming out that is supposed to overcome this but this has been repeatedly moved back , December is one date I have seen .You have got to wonder at the intelegence of the people that sanctioned this nonsense ,the benefit is only a few pounds a year and that is their figure.

It appears to be British Gas, we have received at least 3 calls every day for the last 5 weeks. We have home care insurance with them and also received a smart meter a couple of years ago, yet still we get the calls. This is Harassment, fed up with them.

A courtesy call after having both electric and gas Smart Meters fitted yesterday by British Gas. I can understand the skepticism and the fear of new technology. Smart Meters are to be fitted to every home in the UK by the year 2020. It is an excellent way of keeping any eye on your fuel costs. My opinion of course, and I am sure others will totally disagree *grins*

Didn’t answer and they didn’t leave a message but figured it was British Gas calling to follow up on my smart meter installation from yesterday. Don’t quite understand why people are against smart meters. I think they’re informative and convenient and safe. Plus the government requires them in all homes by 2020 so might as well get one now.

Had a missed call from this number and when i tried to call back on their 'missed call' it said the number was incorrect? Which is odd as it had called me with that number. So I assume it must be a suspect number. BEWARE.
